Springtime in Paris...and soon the infamous: April in Paris! Beautiful pictures and commentary, Ashley. Monte and I loved Ile St.-Louis. We wanted to live there. We loved walking down the narrow streets and through the largely residential areas. Have you been to the famous Berthillon (Rue St.-Louis en l'Ile) for ice cream? Highly recommended. The restaurant, L'Orangerie, there, you would love (and so would your Mom...and Dad...and Avery too!)
Our hotel was in between (Rue St. Benoit off Boulevard St. Germain, 6th arrondissement) Cafe de Flore and Les Deux Magots. Deux Magots was great for breakfast. We loved Brasserie Lipp which is also in the neighborhood. Know your parents and Avery would too! The waiters still dress is black waistcoats and long, crisp white aprons, just like they used to when the establishment opened in the 1880's. My absolute favorite was Laduree on Avenue des Champs Elysees in the 8th arrondissement. Breakfast, lunch or tea...a beautiful experience.
So glad you are enjoying the parks. Jardins Des Tuileries and the beautiful promenade, dotted with the statues and fountains, was my favorite...so happy you are enjoying it too as well!
Hope this beautiful springtime continues to bloom and blossom with adventures and opportunities.
Montaigne asks, "Que sais-je," or, "What do I know?"
This question is the essence of how I plan to spend my time in Paris...and is the question I want to ask all my life.
What do we know? What do the authorities tell us, and how much of this do we believe? How much credit can you give a source, and how should you question what others tell you is truth?
And what do you know about yourself? What do I know? Personally, I am still searching for that answer. Although I am entering my twenties, the supposed 'best time of my life,' I can't help but wonder if my life will really begin when I find the answer to who I am...but will that ever happen? Maybe being young and carefree is the essence of not understanding oneself...
Que sais-je? It is a never-ending question...but inspirational because it sustains my will to learn about the world and about myself.
